About the Program

The Long Island City YMCA hosts NYC’s FREE full-day 3K FOR ALL, a quality program five days a week that is open to Y members and the community.

We focus on developing our youngest learners by providing a safe, nurturing family environment where they are intellectually, socially, and physically stimulated while participating in fun activities. Children will be engaged with highly qualified, certified teachers and personnel. Our curriculum places a high priority on creating an environment in the classroom that encourages children to experiment, explore and pursue their own interests. The development of independence, trust and initiative is fostered through a balanced program of free play and structure, quiet and active play, and group and individual time. Learning centers in each room include science, dramatic play, block building, library, art, music, and manipulative materials. Science, music, movement, and art are also incorporated in our foundation.

Program Hours

Monday through Friday from 8:00AM-2:50PM with a fee based extended day until 5:30PM.

Early Childhood After School Programs

Traditional After-School
September 30, 2024 - June 18, 2025: 3:00 PM- 5:45 PM

Traditional After-School for 3-year-olds offers enriching classes designed to support your child's exploration of the world, development of social skills, and growth of physical abilities. Our program focuses on fostering individual skill development in a nurturing environment where children learn to collaborate with others and engage in a variety of new and exciting activities. In our classes, children participate in age-appropriate activities that encourage them to discover and learn through play. They engage in activities that help them develop coordination, strength, and motor skills while also learning the importance of teamwork and communication.

At Traditional After-School, we provide a supportive setting where young learners can thrive and build confidence in their abilities. Our dedicated instructors create a welcoming atmosphere where each child is encouraged to explore their interests, interact with peers, and enjoy a positive learning experience.

Language Arts After School Program (Explore Language and Cultures)

Discover a world of languages and cultures with our innovative Language Arts After School Program. Immerse your child in the captivating charm of Japanese language and culture, intertwined with the expressive beauty of American Sign Language (ASL). Specifically designed for young learners, our program offers interactive experiences to ignite curiosity and foster a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives.

Through engaging activities and immersive storytelling, children will explore the significance of Japanese language, mastering essential phrases and uncovering Japan's vibrant heritage. Simultaneously, they will embark on a rewarding journey through ASL, learning fluent communication through graceful gestures and expressive movements that promote empathy and understanding across cultures. Led by passionate educators fluent in Japanese and ASL, our nurturing environment cultivates confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love for languages and cultures. Join us on this educational adventure where curiosity thrives and every discovery connects us to the global community.
