About the Program
The Long Island City YMCA hosts NYC’s FREE full-day 3K FOR ALL, a quality program five days a week that is open to Y members and the community.
We focus on developing our youngest learners by providing a safe, nurturing family environment where they are intellectually, socially, and physically stimulated while participating in fun activities. Children will be engaged with highly qualified, certified teachers and personnel. Our curriculum places a high priority on creating an environment in the classroom that encourages children to experiment, explore and pursue their own interests. The development of independence, trust and initiative is fostered through a balanced program of free play and structure, quiet and active play, and group and individual time. Learning centers in each room include science, dramatic play, block building, library, art, music, and manipulative materials. Science, music, movement, and art are also incorporated in our foundation.
Program Hours
Monday through Friday from 8:00AM-2:50PM with a fee based extended day until 5:30PM.

Early Childhood After School Programs
Japanese After School Program
The Japanese Language After School Program at the Long Island City YMCA is run in coordination with the LIC YMCA's UPK Program. Following the YMCA's mission, the curriculum will be conducted in Japanese, offering children a fun learning environment that includes not only spoken Japanese, but also reading/writing hiragana, and learning about Japanese culture. The classroom experience, following monthly themes based on Japanese annual events/holidays, will include Japanese songs and dances, reading aloud stories in Japanese, playtime using Japanese toys, etc.
Traditional After School

ASL After School
At the YMCA After-school, each day is a fun new adventure. ASL is a valuable language that can benefit all children, especially at an early age. Incorporating ASL into a child’s early learning journey can be done through interactive play, songs, and simple signs that correspond to everyday activities and objects. Let’s strive to create an inclusive and nurturing environment for our young learners by embracing the beauty of American Sign Language.
