Summer day camps at the Prospect Park YMCA and Park Slope Armory YMCA, both located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, offer a fun, safe, and enriching experience for kids ages 4.5 to 14.

Park Slope Armory Camps

The following camps are based out of the Park Slope Armory YMCA, located at 361 15th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215.

Swim Camp

Ages 7-12

Swim Camp supports the development of essential swimming skills, while cultivating a lifetime love for the water. Campers will swim four times a week, and learn important water safety values and responsibilities. In addition to instructional swimming, campers will also participate in Day Camp activities like arts and crafts, group sports, and field trips.

The key components of Swim Camp are:

  • Personal Safety: Campers learn to be safety conscious in and around water.
  • Personal Growth: Campers learn new skills and build self-esteem.
  • Stroke Development: Campers are taught stroke techniques such as paddling, treading, and floating.
  • Water Games: Games are used to enhance skills learned.

Counselor to child ratio is 1:8 for ages 7-9; 1:10 for ages 10-12.

Sports Camp

Ages 7-12

Sports Camp is designed to teach fundamentals and enhance camper abilities in age-appropriate groups for a variety of sports. Through the coaching and support of camp staff, campers will learn the history, rules, and key skills of different sports, while applying lessons learned in practice games. Sports Camp encourages the values of teamwork and good sportsmanship.

Counselor to child ratio is 1:8 for ages 7-9; 1:10 for ages 10-12.

Teen Camp

Ages 12-14

Teen Camp exemplifies the YMCA’s core values of honesty, respect, caring, and responsibility. Teen campers participate in hands-on programming geared towards building self-confidence, teamwork, and accountability. Activities are designed to engage teens in personal development, while making friends and having fun. Field trips are purposeful in connecting teen campers to real-world experiences with technology, art, and character development. Campers will participate in swimming, dancing, singing, sports, and more!

Counselor to teen ratio is 1:10.

P.S. 10 Camps

The following camps are based out of P.S. 10, located at 511 7th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215.

Kinder Camp

Ages 4.5-5

Kinder Camp is designed for children entering kindergarten in September 2019. Structured day camp activities support this important transitional time by building social and emotional skills in a fun and nurturing environment. We focus on classroom structure and group play. Campers will participate in instructional swimming, indoor and outdoor physical fitness, interactive science, literacy activities, theme-based arts and crafts, local outings, and one field trip per session.

Counselor to child ratio is 1:6.

Express Camp

Ages 6-8

Express Camp fits all of your favorite camp activities into each day! Campers participate in arts and crafts, group games, sports, health and fitness, personal development activities. They will also have weekly field trips to nature centers, museums, and local events. As part of our Express Camp, children will have instructional swimming one day a week.

Counselor to child ratio is 1:8.

Adventure Camp

Ages 9-11

Adventure Campers will participate in arts and crafts, group games, sports, and health and fitness. Activities are designed to engage campers in personal development, while making friends and having fun. Campers will participate in weekly field trips, local mini-trips, instructional swimming, and outdoor learning.

Counselor to child ratio is 1:10.

Lisa Beth Camp

Ages 5-12

This three-week camp is a fully integrated program for children with different abilities. Campers will experience a variety of summer camp activities, including swimming, field trips, and arts and crafts. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to participate in a safe, caring, and fun learning environment. This camp runs from July 15, 2019 to August 2, 2019.

Counselor to child ratio is 1:2.

Sessions & Hours

Our camp season runs July 1 through August 23. Our two week sessions operate from 9 AM-5 PM, Monday through Friday. Our camps are closed on July 4th in observance of the July 4th holiday.

A standard camp session is two weeks in length, and there are four sessions per summer.

Registration
  1. Consider joining the Prospect Park Y and becoming a member. Members get access to our facility and family programming, as well as discounted rates for Summer Camp.

  2. Take advantage of the 10% Early Bird discount by paying off your entire balance by April 27, 2019. The 10% Sibling Discount is available for all siblings of the first child registered at full price.
    Note: Discounts cannot be combined.

  3. Online registration will be available for most camps in mid-February, 2019. Note: Online camp registration is currently not able to process 3rd party payments, sibling discounts, and financial assistance.
    • If you wish to register in person, visit the Prospect Park YMCA and ask for camp registration materials. You can also download the registration form (PDF).
    • If you wish to register online after mid-February, 2019, simply select your camp location and camp type using our online registration system.

  4. Submit a non-refundable deposit for each session you would like your child to attend. This will hold your child’s spot for the designated sessions of camp.

  5. The YMCA accepts all major credit cards, and you may sign up for automatic billing to ensure payments are made on time with no late fees incurred.

  6. Submit your child’s full application, including consent and medical forms prior to the first day of camp. The medical form must be completed by a physician and include signature, date of exam, and stamp.

  7. Submit two passport size photos of your child.

Discounts

10% Early Bird Discount
Register and pay in full before April 27, 2019 to get a 10% discount.

10% Sibling Discount
All siblings of the first child registered at full price receive a 10% discount.

*Discounts cannot be combined and are available only on the cost of camps per session, not on extended day or transportation fees.

Credit Policy

If your child cannot attend camp for a period of time paid, you may submit a request for credit along with documentation to the Camp Director. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable. Credits can be used for camp or other programs throughout the year. Any credit request must be submitted to the camp director, and will be granted under the discretion of the Youth and Family Director. All request should be made prior the start of the session.
