The Cross Island YMCA is seeking a Sports Coordinator who will be responsible for organizing and overseeing our sports programming for youth and adults.  The Sports coordinator is responsible for game management, creating opportunities for members to play competitively against other teams, developing sports related skills and sportsmanlike conduct, and ensuring that all participants are safe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of adults in a sports program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Plan and lead fun, challenging physical activities for participants.
  • Plan, promote, implement, supervise, and coordinating sports programs and special events.
  • Create opportunities for members to play competitively against other teams in a variety of sports
  • Provides communication to and from office, staff and participants
  • Assigns times and locations for each team practice and game
  • Create an atmosphere in which all participants can have fun, are safe and learn the importance of good principled athletics.
  • Complete program documentation as assigned (registration, incident/accident reports, attendance and sign-in / sign-out sheets).
  • Maintain open communication and an excellent rapport with participants, staff, and members.
  • Respond to inquiries and request for information
  • Promotes interest and participation in sports program through events, outreach and informational programs.
  • Assess performance and progress of participants.
  • Perform Coach or Official duties as needed.
  • Actively participate in all training sessions and meetings.
  • Other activities and duties that address the ongoing health and well-being of our staff and members.
  • Follow and maintain sanitary habits in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. College Credits preferred. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years working with listed age group. 
  • First Aid, CPR, AED training preferred.
