We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for performing accounting work, including but not limited to, maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, analysis of financial records and reports, preparation of financial and statistical reports, and providing information to Association staff. The Senior Accountant will also assist in the preparation of monthly account reconciliations, financial reports, budgets and audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries and reconciles the general ledger and subsidiary accounts for the monthly and yearly book close for the Association.

  • Track and review monthly transitional housing, space rental billings, receivables, collections and prepare monthly allowance, bad debt calculation, conversion between cash and accrual basis, and related journal entries.

  • Track monthly online credit card donations, reconcile the data between credit card processing portal and GL and prepare journal entries and reconciliation of the related receivable accounts.

  • Conduct space rental, occupancy, average daily rate, open purchase order listing, and other ad hoc reporting requests.

  • Reconcile petty cash accounts for all branches and prepare data entry for government cash receipts and reclassifications for government team.

  • Assist with the preparation of annual budget. Work with staff across Association office and branches to develop budget accurately and timely.

  • Assist with schedules preparation and retrieving documents for government contract, CFR preparation, state, and financial statement audits.

  • Responsible for other accounting areas and matters as assigned.

  • Coordinate with managers and staff to research and resolve accounting issues.

  • Making decision on routine accounting transactions; coordinating with financial team and Branch operation team to assist management.


Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

  • Three to five years of non-profit accounting experience.  

  • Direct experience in presenting clear facts and issues. On-going internal/external education.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (i.e., pivot table, vlookup, sumif).

  • Experience with Oracle, Salesforce, FinancialForce, and AS400 is a plus.

  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills, and attention to detail required.

  • A team player with strong communication skills.

  • Ability to learn new software implementation.
