The Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA is seeking a Module Mentor who will provide specialized, hands-on instruction to teens, nurturing their skills in various tech and media disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and guide teens in specific subjects, including Sound Design and Radio, Lighting, Camera (still and video), Editing, Podcasting, Writing and Storytelling (media/critical thinking), Coding (Python, etc.), Architecture, Graphic Design, and Set Design.

  • Develop and update curriculum for the assigned modules.

  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Collaborate with other Module Mentors for interdisciplinary projects.

  • Assess and provide feedback on teen progress.

  • Maintain safety and security of equipment and software in the media lab.


Desired Skills:

  • Experience in hands-on instruction or tutoring, preferably with teens.

  • Passion for mentoring and guiding young learners.

  • Relevant expertise in the subject area (e.g., professional experience, certifications, or degrees).

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.

  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
