The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a skilled and experienced Cyber Security Specialist to enhance our information security posture. This critical role focuses on monitoring, analyzing, and protecting our digital assets from cyber threats. The ideal candidate will be proficient in investigating logs, familiar with the Microsoft Security Suite and Fortinet tools, including firewall and analyzer, and adept at preventing and remediating security issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Threat Monitoring and Analysis:

  • Continuously monitor security access logs and alerts to identify and assess potential security incidents.

  • Use Microsoft Security Suite, Fortinet Firewall, and Analyzer tools to detect, analyze, and respond to threats.

  • Conduct detailed investigations and forensics to understand the root cause of security breaches or incidents.


Incident Response and Remediation:

  • Develop and implement strategies for rapid identification and mitigation of security incidents.

  • Coordinate with IT and other departments to remediate vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.

  • Prepare incident reports and post-mortem analysis to prevent future security breaches.


Security Policy and Compliance:

  • Assist in developing and enforcing security policies, procedures, and standards across the organization.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to information security.

  • Conduct regular security audits and compliance checks.


Training and Awareness:

  • Promote security awareness within the organization through training sessions and regular communication on security best practices.

  • Provide guidance to IT staff and other employees on how to recognize and prevent potential security threats.


Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.  Or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in cybersecurity, with a strong background in log analysis, threat detection, and incident response.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Security Suite and Fortinet tools, including firewall and analyzer.

  • Strong understanding of network protocols, encryption technologies, and secure coding practices.

  • Experience with incident response and digital forensics.

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or Fortinet NSE are highly desirable.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
