The Chinatown YMCA is seeking a Computer Instructor who will be responsible for providing instruction and supervision of computer classes and activities including, but not limited, to basic and advanced instruction classes, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAT Prep, Tutoring, Computer Coding, Robotics, digital media /platforms, Work ready support, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure the health, safety and well being of participants during program, providing close supervision of all activities
  • Maintain accurate program documentation including but not limited to sign in/sign out sheets, attendance, incident, accident reports
  • Maintain an organized work space, by taking responsibility for maintaining all supplies, materials, equipment and program spaces  
  • Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings, and special events
  • Create an atmosphere where all participants are engaged, have fun, are safe and work collectively as a team
  • Regularly communicate with Program Director to discuss lesson plans and activities to ensure a good working relationship and positive outcomes 
  • Partner with Program Director in communication to caregivers to promote an understanding of the growth and development of their child
  • Keep Program Director informed of any concerns or problems involving program participants or facilities
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
  • Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
  • Adhere to all Department of Health, YMCA of Greater New York, and funder standards, expectations, and regulations.   
  • Other activities and duties that address the ongoing health and well-being of our staff and members.
  • Follow and maintain sanitary habits in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Desired Skills & Experience:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience teaching computer classes 
  • Current CPR, First Aid AED.
  • Knowledge of and experience in teaching Word, Excel, Coding, Computer basics, Esports, digital platforms, Photoshop 
  • Must be available to work Monday – Friday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm or some earlier daytime hours if needed.
