The West Side YMCA is seeking a Building Coordinator who will provide assistance in leading the management and maintenance of the West Side Y’s buildings and property department. They will ensure a safe, clean work environment that meets the satisfaction of the YMCA, housing, guest rooms, membership, and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Property Manager in administering the operation and developing and monitoring the operation plan.

  • Supervise and assist all cleaning and maintenance staff, as needed.

  • Maintain timekeeping for the department and approve payroll biweekly.

  • Create all purchase requisitions and PO receipts for the department. Coordinate with the Business Office on all invoices that are on hold. Take daily receipts to the bank. Track and order all supplies as needed.

  • Maintain records and reports on staff, supply consumption, and inventory of cleaning supplies. 

  • Assist in supervising, training, and motivating maintenance staff on an ongoing basis.

  • Required to implement rules and regulations to ensure the safety of members and staff according to risk management guidelines.

  • Assign staff and schedules to meet the operational needs of the branch.

  • Set up/take down tables and chairs for events.

  • Assist the Senior Property Manager in providing staff leadership to raise and sustain the annual support campaign, capital, and special events.

  • Respond to emergency situations at the branch as needed.

  • Responsible for scheduling and covering all staff shifts.


Desired Skills & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience supervising staff, overseeing maintenance, cleaning, tracking/ordering supplies, and entering payroll and purchase orders. 

  • Knowledge and certifications in Fire Protection, Systems (NYC Codes), Building Construction and Management, Energy Conservation, Pool Operator, Certificate of Fitness T89, S12, S13, and C91 Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems.
