McBurney YMCA
The Y serves thousands of kids in dozens of quality afterschool programs throughout the city.
When children enter the Y Afterschool program, a whole other world of imagination and growth opens up to them. In addition to supplementing what they have learned in school, they participate in interactive learning models that engage critical thinking skills, get assistance with their homework from trained YMCA staff, have a chance to socialize with each other, and form long-lasting friendships that enhance their development, growth and self-confidence.
Our curriculum is based on a program model that focuses on learning enhancement, health and recreation, and building competence and confidence in children. The program runs every regular school day, from 3 PM to 6 PM, in a supervised and structured environment, providing a safe after school alternative for children. The staff-to-student ratio is 1:10 and the site capacity can range from 24 to as many as 500 children.
Y After School is offered at low or no cost to parents, thanks to generous support from the NYC Department of Education, NYC Department of Youth & Community Development, federal grants through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers, The After-School Corporation, leading corporations, foundations, individual donors and the Y's Annual Campaign.
Y Afterschool at McBurney YMCA for PS41 Students
The best of McBurney Y is available after school. Y Afterschool provides students with the opportunity to choose from specialized classes designed to nurture the student’s spirit, mind and body.
We are excited to have your child with us for the Fall 2023. The 2023-2024 After School Program will run out of McBurney YMCA. Staff will pick up the children at PS 41. Pick up for caregivers will be at McBurney YMCA.

Y Afterschool at PS 33
The McBurney YMCA is pleased to offer a free after school program exclusively for students attending P.S. 33 Chelsea Prep. The Y After School takes place at PS 33 from 3:00 pm – 5:45 pm for children in grades K through 5. Supported by the NYC Department of Education, all activities are designed to build academic skills.
