The Greenpoint YMCA is seeking a Teen & Sports Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Youth & Family Director, the Teen & Sports Coordinator will lead the management and implementation of all teen programs at the Greenpoint branch. Responsibilities include assisting the Youth & Family Director with managing staff, program development, outreach, and recruitment, as well as key community partnerships such as local schools. The impact of teen programs will be carefully measured and monitored for continuous improvement. Teen programs take place during the school year, concurrent with the school day, after-school hours, and Saturday evenings. Teen programs also take place during the summer on Saturday evenings and select holidays. The Teen & Sports Coordinator supervises all teen travel, including overnight and multi-day trips. 

Program Portfolio: Saturday Night Lights, Rowe Scholars, and fee-based enrichment programs.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of youth and teens in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.

  • Manage administrative data entry in various systems, including Youth Service.NET and AS400.

  • Responsible for the coordination of participant paperwork, conducting program surveys, and meeting all other requirements outlined by city agencies and in the YMCA’s Teen Standards.

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement program registration, program workshops, and special events with support from part-time Teen Advisors. 

  • Assist in marketing and distributing program information and compiling program statistics.

  • Help to develop, implement, and monitor program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.

  • Establish and maintain links with service providers in various settings, including other CBOs, schools, and community partnerships.

  • Attend designated meetings, training sessions, and special events related to teen programming.

  • Participates in the Branch's Fundraising/ Annual Support Campaign.

  • Act as the liaison to the YMCA of Greater New York regarding teen issues.

  • Provide support to the Youth & Director regarding staff management and scheduling. 

  • Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.

  • Create and support an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of teens. 


Desired Skills & Experience:
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required. College credits in the field of Education or Social Work are desired.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with youth/teens and planning activities.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and comfortable working with multicultural youth and adults. 

  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certifications preferred.
