I’m from Haiti and moved to New York City in 2017. I came to the YMCA in March 2018 to learn English. I left my country, but I didn’t finish my education. Learning English gives me more opportunities. I can go to university again, and find a good job in America.

I really like my classes. People in the classes are my friends. The teachers and students look to me for answers. Every day, I speak to people in English, watch TV in English, read the paper in English — all to learn. Learning English gives me freedom. I thank the YMCA for that.
