AT&T Opens Connected Learning Center at Jamaica YMCA in Queens to Help Bridge the Digital Divide 30 July 2025 New dedicated learning center in Jamaica YMCA will provide access to internet, technology and digital learning resources for the community This week, AT&T opened a new Connected Learning Center inside the YMCA of Greater New York’s Jamaica branch in Queens to provide internet access and high-quality educational tools to residents who encounter barriers to internet connectivity and digital resources. At the event, AT&T made a $50,000 contribution to the YMCA of Greater New York for programming support.Nationwide, tens of millions still don’t have access to the internet or connected devices needed to fully participate in the online world, an issue known as the digital divide. “In Southeast Queens, we know that access to technology is access to opportunity. This new Connected Learning Center at the Jamaica YMCA is more than a resource, it’s a bridge for our families, students, and job seekers to thrive in a digital world,” said Council Member Dr. Nantasha Williams. “I want to thank AT&T for their investment in our community, and for recognizing that closing the digital divide requires real partnerships and long-term commitment. I’m proud to support initiatives like this that uplift our district and reinforce our commitment to expanding STEAM education and digital equity for every generation.”This Connected Learning Center is the 5th in New York City and the 11th CLC across New York state. It offers free access to digital resources, including internet and technology. It also provides educational resources such as The Achievery, a free digital learning platform by AT&T, and free digital literacy courses in partnership with the Public Library Association. We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring this CLC to Queens, and for the life-changing work done by everyone at the YMCA.” AT&T has worked closely with the YMCA of Greater New York since 2012, providing grant funding for various initiatives – including the Y’s Rowe Scholars program, increasing educational and career outcomes and offering tailored support for college-bound students in underserved communities. AT&T also provided substantial assistance to the Y during their COVID and post-COVID rebuilding efforts.The CLC effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.AT&T opens these centers within local nonprofit organizations that are already adept at supporting underserved populations within their community, including some of our nation’s most vulnerable students and families. The company plans to offer at least 100 locations by the end of 2027.
