The Park Slope Armory YMCA New Americans Welcome Center supports newcomers and immigrants in reaching their goals of employment, education, civic engagement, naturalization, cultural competence and upward mobility in the communities they live.

Free English, Job Training, and Citizenship Preparation Classes

Spring classes at the Park Slope Armory YMCA start Monday, April 13 and go through June 18, 2020.
 

Adult Literacy Education (ESOL) 
Beginning instruction in vocabulary and structure of the English language. Students will learn basic skills necessary for reading, writing, and communicating in English.

6-9 PM
Prospect Park YMCA
 

Intermediate ESOL
Intermediate instruction in English language conversation, reading, and writing. Students continue to develop fluency in English with a focus on learning more complex vocabulary and grammar.

Mondays & Wednesdays

Park Slope Armory YMCA
 

Computer Literacy/Job Readiness
Instruction in basic technology and workplace skills such as word processing, Excel, email, internet search techniques, and resume-building.

Tuesdays & Thursdays

Citizenship Preparation/US Civics
US civics for immigrants planning to apply for US citizenship. Students develop their English speaking skills as well as their knowledge of US history and government.

Healthcare Careers, Workforce Preparation ESOL 
Preparing for work in the USA, training for a healthcare career, improving your language skills, and job search/placement support. 

Participants also receive one on one coaching and case management, resume writing and interviewing tips, and networking opportunities.

Conversational English (Amigos)
Intermediate/advanced level conversation group; students develop fluency by viewing and discussing episodes of the award-winning television show "We Are New York."

CUNY Citizenship Now! and the YMCA's New Americans Initiative invite you to free legal immigration services at a location near you.

Experienced immigration attorneys and volunteers will help you with:
