No, the student should be responsible for all aspects of the process of becoming a lifeguard. What happens if I miss a class? Attendance in all sessions of the course is a mandatory requirement for certification. Once I reach the final section of the Lifeguard course, can I retake the Lifeguard Water Test if I don’t pass? No, you cannot retake the Water Test. Can I retake the Written Test? Yes, you can retake the written test one time if you do not pass. Pre-Test How can I prepare for the pretest? Review the requirements of the pre-test here. If you need additional practice, we offer a Lifeguard Development course to help prepare you to participate in the YLG Course. How do I register for the pretest? You can register here. Can I retake the pretest if I do not pass the first time? Yes, you can register for another pre-test if you do not pass. Do I have to pass all elements of the pretest to pass? Yes. Do I have to take the course at the same location that I take the pretest? Training Schedule What happens if I miss a class? Or get sick? Attendance, arriving on time, staying the entire class, and participation are required for every scheduled class. Can I make up a class at another location? No, you must attend all classes with the class and location you started. Can I start a class at one location and end at another location? No, you must complete the class with the course and at the location where you started. When do I receive my certification? Certifications will be issued within 10 days of course completion. When do I receive the stipend? Stipends will be processed once the class is completed as attendance is required to be eligible. It should be received 3-4 weeks after the class is completed.
