Ys Works 2023: A Year of Impact
Every year we cheer on another graduating class from Y Rowe Scholars, and each time we are in awe of their immense growth, successes, and bright futures ahead. On June 30, we celebrated the class of 2023 during Y College Decision Day at Bank of America, a proud partner in our shared commitment to college and career readiness for all teens.
This year, 50 of our teens came together to announce their colleges of choice, like Howard University, Northwestern University, CUNY Baruch College, and SUNY Brockport. For many of our teens, they are the first to attend college in their family. We are incredibly proud of them and humbled by the opportunity to support first-generation students through this momentous life achievement.
Through our Y Rowe Scholars program, we are closing the academic achievement gap in NYC—with 97% of Rowe Scholars graduating on time (compared to 84% citywide), and 94% of our students matriculating to college (compared to 66% citywide), those are statistics that reaffirm our mission: giving teens the tools and confidence to succeed in higher education and beyond.
