Kai Noelle & Stacey's Story

"My daughter has transformed here—now she jumps for joy."

FLATBUSH YMCA

EARLY CHILDHOOD

When my daughter Kai started at the Flatbush Y, I saw a transformation almost immediately. She had come from a school where she didn’t feel like herself—quiet, hesitant, unsure. But at the Y, she started to light up. She came home talking about her day, dancing through the living room, and proudly showing me everything she learned.

I chose the Y because of my own childhood memories there, but what I’ve found for Kai is even more meaningful. The staff are incredibly attentive and caring—they make her feel safe, seen, and celebrated. And the programs? They offer everything I could want for her early development: art, dance, karate, swimming, and so much more.

Kai especially loves painting, which is something we now share. Watching her develop her own creative voice has been such a gift. She also asks about ballet all the time and loves showing me her dance moves from class. She’s becoming more expressive and confident every day.

The Y has given Kai more than just a place to learn—it’s given her joy, community, and the chance to be exactly who she is. And for me, that’s the best foundation I could ask for.
