Bianca & Amanda's Story "These opportunities are something I cannot put a price on."CASTLE HILL YMCASUMMER CAMPWhen I moved to New York from Puerto Rico in 2018, everything was unfamiliar. The Castle Hill Y quickly became the constant we needed. My daughter Amanda started in the afterschool program through her school and joined summer camp that same year. She’s been with the Y ever since—learning to swim, building friendships, and growing more confident every day.As a working parent, the Y has been a lifeline. It’s more than just a safe place for Amanda—it’s a space where she’s supported, challenged, and celebrated. The staff have always gone above and beyond, and their kindness helped us feel at home in a brand-new city. I would not be able to hold a job if it wasn't for her having a safe place to go after school and during the summer.Financial assistance made all of this possible. Without it, we couldn’t have accessed the opportunities Amanda now thrives in. That support changed our lives—and I know it does the same for so many families in our community. The Y gave us more than programs. It gave us roots.
