The YMCA of Greater New York Association Office is seeking a Senior Director of Institutional Giving who will lead and grow a comprehensive corporate and foundation fundraising program for the YMCA of Greater New York, securing critical philanthropic support for youth, health, and community initiatives across all five boroughs. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this individual will drive institutional fundraising strategy, deepen relationships with funders, expand the Y’s funding pipeline, and oversee the development of compelling proposals, reports, budgets, and stewardship opportunities in partnership with a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities:Manage and strategically grow a portfolio of corporate and foundation donors generating more than $3.5 million annually in philanthropic support.Develop and execute the overall strategy for the YMCA’s institutional giving program, including new business development, renewals, and long-term funder engagement.Lead the preparation of highly competitive grant proposals, applications, reports, budgets, donor correspondence, briefing materials, and stewardship communications, ensuring quality and timely submission of all deliverables.Cultivate and strengthen relationships with foundation and corporate partners through regular stewardship activities, including meetings, site visits, presentations, events, and impact reporting.Partner closely with senior leadership, including the President & CEO, Vice President of Development, and program leaders, to advance institutional fundraising priorities and manage key donor relationships.Identify, research, and evaluate prospective corporate and foundation funders to expand the YMCA’s institutional funding pipeline.Oversee and support the expansion of the YMCA’s corporate volunteer engagement program.Track portfolio performance metrics and prepare regular reports analyzing progress toward fundraising goals and strategic priorities.Foster strong cross-departmental collaboration to align funding opportunities with organizational priorities and ensure accurate program reporting and compliance.Represent the YMCA at foundation meetings, philanthropic convenings, and external events, serving as a visible ambassador for the organization and its mission.Monitor trends in philanthropy, public policy, and current events to strategically position YMCA programs and initiatives for institutional support.Supervise and mentor institutional giving staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and growth-oriented team culture.Serve as a member of the YMCA’s Leadership Cabinet.Desired Skills & Experience:Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.Minimum of six (6) to eight (8) years of progressively responsible institutional fundraising and grant writing experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization.Demonstrated success securing and growing foundation and corporate funding.Experience managing and mentoring staff.Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; finalists will be asked to provide writing samples, including grant proposals.Strong knowledge of the corporate and foundation fundraising landscape.Proven ability to build, steward, and deepen relationships with institutional funders and senior stakeholders.Experience preparing grant budgets and financial reports with strong quantitative and analytical skills.Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.Ability to understand, articulate, and persuasively communicate organizational impact and strategic priorities.Sound judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.Proven track record of securing significant institutional grants and philanthropic investments.Proficiency with fundraising databases and CRM systems, including Salesforce, Blackbaud, or similar platforms.Working knowledge of institutional prospect research tools and resources.Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.Self-motivated, collaborative, and adaptable in a dynamic environment.Commitment to the YMCA’s mission and values, with a passion for strengthening communities across New York City.Benefits:The YMCA of Greater New York offers a variety of benefits to its staff members, including retirement benefits, medical benefits, paid time off, free YMCA membership, and more!
