The Greenpoint YMCA is seeking a Maintenance Worker/Porter who will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas, including mopping, dusting, and trash removal. The Maintenance Worker/Porter will also be required to complete duties related to window washing, meeting room set-up, pool cleaning, snow removal, groundskeeping, and other related responsibilities.Key Responsibilities:Ensures the branch is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintaining the upkeep of the assigned area and equipment. May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.Records and reports all needed repairs; conducts repairs as directed.Ensures the branch building and property are secure during your shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.May set up furniture and/or rooms for events.Strips and waxes the floors and shampoos rugs as needed.Follows the standards of the DOH, DOB, FDNY, HPD, and ECB Departments.Follows YMCA Housekeeping Policies and Procedures.Flexible schedule, open to working nights and weekends.Desired Skills & Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of three (3) years of related experience with an increased area of responsibility.Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, along with a basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.Understanding of light electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry.Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.Obtain the YMCA Housekeeping Certificate within one (1) year of attaining the position.Benefits:The YMCA of Greater New York offers a variety of benefits to its staff members, including retirement benefits, medical, paid time off, free YMCA membership, and more!
