Community is the cornerstone of the Y. Together, we connect active, engaged New Yorkers to build stronger communities.

To help fulfill our mission, we cultivate a culture of learning, leading, and collaboration to enhance community impact. Through our talented staff and “LEAP” career framework (Leadership, Empowerment, Accountability, Personal Growth), we are committed to a people-first approach that fosters trust, inclusion, growth, and development for all.

The YMCA of Greater New York Association Office is seeking a Development Specialist to support the Fund Development team by ensuring accurate gift processing, timely donor acknowledgment, and efficient fundraising operations across the Association and branches. • Manage pledge reminders and ensure accurate fulfillment and recording.

  • Support fundraising events (invoicing, receipts, RSVPs, printing, invitations, logistics).

  • Manage and update website fund development pages.

  • Build and pull donor lists for appeals, stewardship, and targeted outreach.

  • Manage Classy pages and operations, including setup, testing, reporting, and troubleshooting.

  • Coordinate newsletter and email distribution lists with Annual Fund (Y’s Works).

  • Serve as a Salesforce resource for Fund Development (data entry, updates, reports).

  • Respond to branch and RGO requests, including Board of Managers updates and staff training sessions.

  • Support RGOs, Annual Fund, and leadership with data pulls, mailings, and list prep.

  • Manage Fund Development team supply inventories.

  • Coordinate and support direct mail campaigns, including list prep, vendor coordination, and mail drops.

  • Manage the donor relations inbox and respond to donor inquiries in a timely manner.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.

  • One (1) - three (3) years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising operations, donor relations, or a related administrative role.

  • Foundational knowledge of fundraising operations, including gift processing, acknowledgments, pledges, and donor stewardship.

  • Working knowledge of Salesforce, Salesforce NPSP, or a comparable CRM/database system.

  • Experience with data entry, record maintenance, and basic reporting with a high level of accuracy.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to handle sensitive donor information with discretion and professionalism.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for internal coordination and donor-facing correspondence.

  • Desire to be part of a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, results-oriented team.

  • Strong customer service mindset and commitment to positive donor experiences.

  • Demonstrated reliability, adaptability, and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
