Food for Thought: Food for All

Ys Works 2023: A Year of Impact

Since its launch in 2021, the Y’s Community Markets have distributed over 725,000 pounds of food to over 37,000 New Yorkers in the Coney Island, Flatbush, and North Brooklyn communities. These neighborhoods were specifically identified by the food bank of NYC as critical areas in need of hunger relief support. This initiative began in response to the rising rates of food insecurity in NYC due to the pandemic and has taken on a shape of its own—as an enriching opportunity to connect, support, and nourish one another.

Best Summer Ever

Ys Works 2023: A Year of Impact

Thank you for another incredible summer, giving thousands of NYC kids the chance to create long-lasting friendships, memories, and all the crafts you could imagine. One in three of our campers require financial assistance, and we make it happen every summer with your support.

Welcoming Our Newest Americans

Ys Works 2023: A Year of Impact

For more than a century, the Y has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for recent immigrants to NYC through our free services and learning opportunities. With the recent surge of asylum seekers and refugees, the Y has expanded its support through Y Community Markets, Y Afterschool, the Y’s transitional housing, and more. It is only with your continued generosity that we've been able to meet the most urgent needs of our newest New Yorkers.
