THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 11

Vaccination Requirement:

In August, Mayor de Blasio issued an Executive Order that all employees, members, and customers of a variety of businesses, including all indoor restaurants, gyms, and theaters, are required to provide proof of vaccination in order to enter these facilities.

To comply with the city’s mandate, the YMCA requires all members and employees to show proof of vaccination when they enter a Y building. The Y also requires all program participants 12 and older – as well as individuals who want to – or need to – stay in the facility during their child’s program must show proof of vaccination.

What to Expect at the Y:

  • All Y employees, members and program participants ages 12 and older must provide proof of vaccination at the check-in desk.
  • We will maintain a record of your vaccination status, so you do not need to show it with each visit.
  • All children 2-11 years old must wear a mask.
  • Any individuals who want to – or need to – stay in the facility during their child’s program must show proof of vaccination.
  • Any individuals who are simply dropping off or picking up their children are not required to show proof of vaccination, but they must wear a mask.

The CDC and the Y strongly encourage all members and guests to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status.

You can demonstrate proof of vaccination in one of three ways:

  1. Show your paper vaccination card to the check-in desk.
  2. Upload your vaccination card to the NYC COVID Safe App and show that to the check-in desk. Download NYC COVID Safe App: Android | iOS
  3. Secure the Excelsior Pass and show your pass to the check-in desk.

Anyone who is not yet vaccinated, as well as children between the ages of 2 and 11, will be required to wear a mask.

Outdoor Classes and Masks:

The Y strongly encourages all members, guests, and employees to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status. However, masks are not required during outdoor classes. Masks will be required in common areas but once you get to your designated workout position, you may remove your mask for class. Please note, if you would like to enter the branch or use any other facilities, we strongly encourage you to put your mask back on. If you prefer to continue to wear a mask during class, please feel free to do so.

Reservations:

Reservations are no longer needed for lap swim or most group exercise classes. Reservations will be required for select group exercise classes that have limited equipment or space restrictions and will also continue to be used for family swim. You can learn more by visiting the Fitness, Swim & Sports Schedule online or on our mobile app.
