YMCA Weight Loss Program

Learn how to eat healthier, move more, and lose weight with the YMCA's Weight Loss Program. No gimmicks no restrictive approaches — just the tools you need to achieve your wellness goals.

This program will provide strategies to incorporate nutrition and physical activity into your lifestyle, keep you motivated, and address the obstacles and pitfalls that make losing weight, and keeping it off, a challenge. You'll meet weekly with a small group for one hour in a classroom. This supportive network will help when the going gets tough and celebrate success along the way.

Details:

  1. 12 weeks with 1 session a week
  2. For adults 18 years or older
  3. FREE for YMCA members

Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program

The YMCA’s Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring program supports adults with hypertension in lowering and managing their blood pressure. The four-month program focuses on practicing home self-monitoring of blood pressure readings and individualized nutrition education for better blood pressure management.

Develop strategies for healthier eating habits and controlling blood pressure through diet, and learn about triggers that elevate blood pressure levels while working to reduce your blood pressure and reducing risk for heart attack or stroke.

Details:

  1. Four month program with two personalized consultations per month and monthly nutrition seminar
  2. For adults 18 years or older 
    • Diagnosed with high blood pressure and/or are on antihypertensive medication 
    • Have NOT experienced a recent (within the last 12 months) cardiac event 
    • DO NOT have atrial fibrillation or other arrhythmias currently 
    • DO NOT have or are at risk for lymphedema 
  3. Free for YMCA members

  • Wednesdays, 4:30 PM — starting September 18
  • Wednesdays, 10:30 AM — starting September 11

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

A free program for adult cancer survivors to achieve their holistic health goals, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA offers a personalized physical activity and well-being program, and provides a supportive community. 

Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve goals related to strength, flexibility, and endurance while building confidence. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA helps people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind, and body.

Details:

  1. 12 weeks with two 60 minute sessions a week
  2. For adults 18 years or older
    • Requires referral and medical clearance from physician
  3. FREE for YMCA members

  • Thursdays, 6 PM and Sundays, 11 AM — starting September 12

New to the Y? We offer a complimentary fitness orientation with one of our staff for all new members as an introduction to our cardiovascular and strength training equipment. No appointments necessary.

Y Fit Start

New to the gym or getting restarted after a long break away? Get help with Y Fit Start, our free program designed to make working out less intimidating and more fun. During your 12 weeks, your Y Fit Start coach will provide personal instruction, support, and motivation to help keep you on track to achieving your health goals.

Nutritional Counseling

Work one-on-one with our certified nutritionist to learn strategies for healthy eating. Proper nutrition can help increase energy, lower blood pressure and cholesterol and help with weight management and weight loss to ensure that you meet your individual health and wellness goals.

We offer members the benefits of ActiveLinxx, a computerized training system, to track your progress, stay motivated and achieve results. No more keeping track of sets, reps or pounds lifted. By entering seat settings, range of motion, weights and proper timing you will enjoy a more efficient workout. The greatest benefit: you can see your results! Consultations are FREE to members.
