Camp McAlister is intentionally designed to provide a happy and successful introduction to the magical world of sleepaway camp. Small group sizes (6 campers per cabin), low camper-to-staff ratios (3:1), and staff members carefully chosen for their experience working with younger children ensure that all campers have a safe, nurturing and very fun first camp experience. Campers explore a wide range of activities including swimming, archery, arts and crafts, field games of every variety, canoeing, hiking, and so much more. Friendships form and deepen quickly as cabin groups become like family and each new day brings more opportunities for shared meals, new experiences, outdoor adventures, and late night laughter.
This was my son’s first ever camp experience. I was so nervous! But he loved it! The staff, the activities, everything! He can’t wait to go back.Mother of an 8 year old boy
Campers follow a structured daily schedule that mixes both free choice and group activities, active and creative play, opportunities to try new things or to more deeply pursue a specific interest. Activities at Camp McAlister are carefully chosen to encourage children’s curiosity about the natural world and to make the most of their enthusiasm and love of play. Whether they are cheering for their cabin at the top of their lungs, frog hunting on a rainy afternoon, learning to play chess during afternoon siesta, creating a dance routine, completing a scavenger hunt, or riding behind the speedboat on the big tube, every day is packed with fun and exciting things to do.
