Whimsy, color brighten South Street

The city officially unveiled colorful figures and safety measures along South Street as part of an art installation titled “We Call This Place Home.” It serves to beautify the area while bringing more visibility to the six-foot median separating motor vehicle traffic from a two-way bike lane. Millions of Kids Who Need Summer Meals Aren’t Getting Them. But Experts Have Some New Ideas

Nearly 21.5 million kids in the U.S. are eligible for free or reduced-priced meals, yet according to a 2016 report from the Food Research Action Center, only 1 in 6 of them receives that benefit over summer break. M.S. 131 in Chinatown feeds children from various nearby day camps, including the Chinatown YMCA’s Beacon Program, which is run out of the school. Read more…
