Baseball

A comprehensive program with an emphasis of both the development of athletic and social skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and positive competition in a fun environment. Program is available at the Bronx and Cross Island YMCAs.

Tennis - 10 and Under and Youth Lessons

The YMCA has partnered with the United States Tennis Association for 10 and Under Tennis. Kid sized racquets, slower and lower-bouncing balls make this Quickstart Tennis program exciting and a new way to learn. The YMCA will supply use of the racquets. Program is offered at the South Shore, Ridgewood, Broadway and Prospect Park YMCAs. General Youth Tennis lessons are also available at the Dodge, Broadway and McBurney YMCAs.

Basketball

Learn and master the basics of passing, dribbling and shooting and practice your offense and defense in fun scrimmages. Program is available at the Bronx, Chinatown, Cross Island, Dodge, Flushing, Jamaica, McBurney, Prospect Park, Ridgwood, South Shore, Vanderbilt and West Side YMCAs.

Cheerleading

This new class is designed to cover beginner skills. The cheer class will also work on proper jump technique, strengthening coordination, and basic jump skills. Emphasis is on motion placement and beginning cheers. Program is available at the South Shore YMCA.

Fitness Fusion

Get healthy and into top shape! Children experience fun fitness activities in a non-competitive environment. Class features easy to follow exercises suited to improve upper body conditioning and agility. Program is offered at the Vanderbilt YMCA

Flag Football

Participants will learn the fundamentals of football, the rules of the game, good sportsmanship, as well as healthy lifestyle habits. Program is available at the Bronx, Cross Island, Chinatown and Long Island City YMCAs.

Gymnastics

The YMCA follows a strict and straight-forward progressive Gymnastics program. Each level is geared to advance gymnasts in safe, consistent and productive progressions. The program teaches safety awareness, body awareness, values education and skills instruction with safety as our #1 concern. Program is available the Cross Island, McBurney,Prospect Park and West Side YMCAs.

Junior Development Tennis for Kids

Lessons feature instruction in both fundamental and advanced techniques of ground strokes, volley and overhead strokes. Emphasis is also placed on control, consistency, point play and match strategy in singles and doubles play. Program is available at the Cross Island YMCA.

This progressive program offers a comprehensive program of physical education, self-defense and meditation. Karate is designed for children of all ages. Regular participation in this program develops strength, agility, flexibility and coordination as well as focus and peace of mind. Program is available at the Bedford-Stuyvesant, Dodge, Flushing, Greenpoint, Harlem, North Brooklyn, Ridgewood and West Side YMCAs.
